Vic Kids Eat Well (VKEW)
Local sports clubs play a big role in the health and wellbeing of communities. They are the places children and young people spend their time being active, so it makes sense to provide nourishing options to fuel kids’ activity.
Vic Kids Eat Well (VKEW) can support sports clubs to promote water as the drink of choice and provide nourishing food options for children, young people and their families.

Smoke and vape free environment
Sporting Clubs can play a crucial role in reducing smoking and vaping rates and in protecting people from the damaging effects of second-hand smoke and vape aerosol. As vaping becomes more prevalent in our society it is important that your club community are aware of the dangers that vaping poses. Having a smoke and vape free policy in place at your club can help to:
- Demonstrate your club’s commitment to health and wellbeing
- Create healthier environments for players, children and families contributing to reduced exposure to second-hand smoke
- Support compliance with legislative requirements regarding smoking and vaping
Formerly promoted as the Sporting Club Smoke Free Policy, our health promotion team have been hard at work updating this policy template to include reference to vaping as well as smoking.
This updated policy template can be introduced at your club to help enforce existing smoke free protocols or develop new ones. There are also a limited number of smoke and vape free signs available to clubs interested in increasing the visibility of signage at their grounds.
Diversity and Inclusion
We’re here to help your club foster a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space—through gender equality, embracing diverse body sizes, and providing meaningful support for the LGBTIQ+ community and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
THRIVE
Is your club interested in joining the THRIVE network? THRIVE provides sporting clubs with a framework to help support their members in managing their mental health and wellbeing by enhancing community protective factors through the power of positive psychology. THRIVE provides clubs with an abundance of resources and access to a range of helpful workshops.
If you are interested in any of the above programs, please reach out to healthpromotion@phcn.vic.gov.au
