Psychologists at Peninsula Health provide expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, and provision of therapy/intervention for people presenting with emotional challenges related to medical conditions and/or mental health disorders.

Service information

Psychologists evaluate the psychological needs of each patient or client and provide evidence-based therapy and interventions in order to contribute to the client’s health and well being.

We have clinical psychologists and neuropsychologists working within our health service to assist in different areas when needed.

Services are provided in subacute, mental health, community health, ambulatory services, acute outpatients, and community rehabilitation programs.

How to access this service

How you access the health service will depend on your access to our psychology services.

Community Health

You can self-refer to most services or be referred by your GP or another health worker. Referrals are made through ACCESS.Community Health’s reach spans across the Peninsula, with services provided from four sites – Frankston, Mornington, Hastings, and Rosebud

Inpatient

Patients who are admitted as an inpatient in acute or subacute will be referred to neuropsychology/psychology by their care team if the need arises.

Ambulatory Care and Community Rehabilitation

These services are provided at Mornington and Golf Links Road. If you are a consumer of the Persisting Pain Management Service, Cognitive, Dementia, and Memory Service, and/or Community Rehabilitation Program, you can access neuropsychology and/or psychology services as part of your care plan.

Mental Health

We offer Clinical Psychology in the acute wards and Neuropsychology services for both the acute wards and community programs. If you are a consumer of these programs you can access these services as part of your care plan.

If you need urgent help for your mental health or would like to access specialist mental health support through Peninsula Health please contact Mental Health Telephone Triage on 1300 792 977, 24 hours, 7 days per week.

If you need immediate mental health support and are unable to utilise a telephone service please attend the Frankston or Rosebud Emergency Department in person 24 hours, 7 days per week.
