Our Infant, Child and Family Team, can support infants and children between the ages of 0-11 and their families, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm.
Our team is staffed by mental health professionals including psychiatrists, registrars, social workers, psychologists, occupational therapists, and neuropsychologists.
We can provide infants and children specialist assessment, treatment and care for significant mental health difficulties and other concerns that may impact on an infant’s or child’s capacity to function and engage in life.
Our interventions include:
- Clinically informed case management and outreach
- Psychological treatments
- Supportive counselling
- Family work
- Medication
- Wellbeing supports and assistance with physical health
- Liaison with other services and referral
Every service we provide has a strong focus promoting mental well-being, resilience, and optimal development through evidence-based interventions and family-centred care.
The frequency and type of support varies but is typically delivered between 3 to 6 months.
Who we care for
The Infant, Child and Family Team works with infants and children between the ages of 0-11, their families, carers and supporters who require a period of extended care from 3 – 6 months. We also work in partnership with other health services you may use. Infants and children may be referred to us to address the needs of children presenting with current or emerging serious mental health disorders affecting daily function, including:
- Anxiety Disorders
- Conduct Disorder
- Eating Disorders
- Mood Disorders
- Oppositional Defiant Disorder
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
- Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
We also support children at risk of self-harm or harm to others, and those facing safety concerns.

We will always want to talk with you before offering support and making any plans.
If you are already accessing another Peninsula Health Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (for example a crisis or inpatient service) they can refer you to us.
Appointments may be carried out in a variety of methods, including clinic based, telehealth, home visits and other community-based services.

The ICFT Team are located at Frankston Hospital.
