Patients presenting through the Emergency Department with a wide range of problems are treated by our Gastroenterology Unit. There is also a 24/7 emergency endoscopy service.
Services
Our Gastroenterology Unit provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services and procedures, including:
- gastroscopy
- colonoscopy
- therapeutic procedures such as dilatation of strictures, removing large polyps, insertion of feeding tubes and specialised procedures on the pancreas and biliary tree (ERCP and Endoscopic ultrasound).
Additionally, the unit treats a large number of patients presenting with gastrointestinal bleeding.
We care for patients presenting through the Emergency Department with a wide range of problems. There is also a 24/7 emergency endoscopy service.
We run two weekly outpatients clinic and have bi-weekly multidisciplinary hepato-biliary and colorectal meetings.
Our gastroenterologists have sub-speciality interests in hepatology, inflammatory bowel disease and interventional endoscopy. We are supported by one advanced trainee in gastroenterology, a General Medicine advanced trainee and resident staff.
