Dr Amy Touzell
Dr Amy Touzell is an Australian trained, fully qualified orthopaedic surgeon with international subspecialty training in trauma, foot and ankle, knee and hip surgery.
Dr Touzell has had extensive training in all aspects of orthopaedic surgery and has a special interest in arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgery of the foot and ankle.
Dr Touzell is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Australian Orthopaedic Association.
Dr Touzell has a statutory appointment with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) which requires assessment of AHPRA complaints and contributes to clinical governance of her profession.
Dr Touzell is passionate about encouraging junior doctors to pursue a career in surgery and is actively involved in the teaching and training of surgical trainees at Peninsula Health and in particular, is a strong advocate in the role of mentorship in surgery.
Dr Touzell is also a member of the Australasian Trauma Society, The Australian Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and the Australian Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction Society and will regularly attend and present research at local and international meetings, as well as supervising research projects completed by junior doctors.
Dr Andrei Diacon
Dr Andrei Diacon is a recently graduated orthopaedic consultant who completed his training through the Australian Orthopaedic Association.
During Dr Diacon’s training, he rotated through various Melbourne hospitals for three years, as well as spending a year at the Royal Hobart Hospital.
Dr Diacon was privileged to further his skills for six months as part of his training in Portland, USA at Shriners Hospitals for Children.
His keen interest in sports and arthroplasty surgery is allowing him to travel to the United Kingdom in 2025 for a year to embark on fellowships in knee and shoulder surgery.
Dr Diacon has been involved in both formal and informal teaching roles throughout his medical career and looks forward to mentoring the junior registrars.
In his free time, Dr Diacon enjoys skiing, kite surfing and sailing.
Mr Dan Fisher
Mr Dan Fisher is a fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon with an interest in hip and knee replacements including the use of robotic assistance.
Mr Fisher completed his orthopaedic training in Victoria and obtained his fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
Following completion of Mr Fisher’s training, he worked at Peninsula Health and then underwent fellowship training at the Perth Hip and Knee Clinic where he gained further experience in all aspects of Hip and Knee Replacement Surgery including the use of Robotics.
Having trained and worked as a physiotherapist previously, Mr Fisher understands the importance of a holistic approach towards patient care and is focused on achieving the best outcome for his patients.
Mr Fisher has an interest in teaching and is involved in education of junior medical staff and is the Director of Orthopaedic Training at Moorabbin Hospital.

Mr Daniel Goldbloom
Mr Daniel Goldbloom is an Australian trained orthopaedic surgeon with a subspecialty interest in all aspects of foot and ankle surgery and is a highly skilled professional.
Mr Goldbloom is the Director of Malvern MSK, which he established in inner Melbourne as well as also concentrating around Bayside, Casey and the Mornington Peninsula.
Mr Goldbloom currently holds a public consultant post at Frankston Hospital where he enjoys teaching and being involved in complex cases.
Dr Edward O’Bryan
Dr Edward O’Bryan was locally trained in Victoria and is currently at Peninsula Health as well as other Bayside health services on a fellowship in which he specialises in lower limb arthroplasty and sport knee surgery.
In Dr O’Bryan’s spare time, he enjoys rowing, golf and game fishing.
Mr Ian Young
Mr Ian Young is Deputy Director of Surgery for Peninsula Health.
He is an orthopaedic surgeon with clinical interests including trauma, hip and knee arthroplasty, sports injury, and shoulder surgery.
Mr Young has been a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Peninsula Health since February 2008 and has completed a Master of Health Administration (MHA) through Monash University and is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer for Monash University.
Mr Young is a serving Captain in the Royal Australian Navy part-time workforce (Navy Reserve) after completing 25 years in the full-time workforce (Permanent Navy). He recently held the position of Director Fleet Health responsible for maritime operational health care based out of Fleet Headquarters in Sydney and has served on multiple operational and exercise deployments to Afghanistan, Iraq, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Bougainville, Vietnam, and within Australia.
Mr Young is President of the Australasian Military Medicine Association (AMMA). His other professional appointments include member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) Trauma Committee, member of the RACS Victorian Trauma Committee, member of the RACS Early Management of Severe Trauma (EMST) Committee, director and faculty for EMST, faculty for Definitive Surgical Trauma Care (DSTC), faculty for Emergency Management of Severe Burns (EMSB), member of the Post Fellowship Education and Training (PFET) Committee for Trauma Training, and member of the Australian and New Zealand Association for the Surgery of Trauma (ANZAST). His previous professional appointments include Director of Clinical Services for the Maritime Operational Health Unit (MOHU), Chair of the RACS Military Surgery Section, and member of the Board of Directors for the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons (SOMOS).
Mr Young was appointed as a Member (AM) of the Order of Australia in the Military Division on the Australia Day 2019 Honours List.
Mr Young is highly involved in the Scottish community as President of St Andrew’s First Aid Australia, Vice President of the Melbourne Highland Games & Celtic Festival, Vice President of the Robert Burns Club of Melbourne, member of the Scottish Australian Heritage Council, and member of the Celtic Council of Australia.
Dr Janan Chandrananth
Dr Janan Chandrananth is an Australian-trained orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in foot and ankle problems, knee pathology and orthopaedic trauma.
Dr Chandrananth has a unique, specialised international experience and also grew up locally in nearby Beaconsfield.
Dr Chandrananth obtained his medical degree at the University of Melbourne in 2012 and completed his orthopaedic training rotating throughout Australia. He was selected to undertake a 6-month paediatric orthopaedic fellow position at the Shriners Hospital for Children in Portland, Oregon, USA.
After completing his training and becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and a Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association (FAOrthA), Dr Chandrananth completed international fellowships in Japan and the United Kingdom.
In Tokyo, he was trained by the illustrious past Japanese Society Surgery of the Foot (JSSF) President, Professor Satoru Ozeki, where he became trained in ankle reconstruction techniques, foot and ankle arthroscopy procedures, foot corrective osteotomy techniques and ankle preservation procedures. During this time, Dr Chandrananth also gained experience in knee alignment and replacement.
Dr Chandrananth also completed a fellowship in Bristol under the tutelage of well renowned foot and ankle surgeons, three of which were past British Foot and Ankle Society (BOFA) Presidents.
Dr Chandrananth is proficient in arthroscopic and minimally invasive techniques for the whole gamut of foot and ankle conditions. While working in this major center for ankle arthroplasty, he has become familiar with Total Ankle Replacements by working with high volume arthroplasty surgeon, Mr Stephen Hepple. As part of Dr Chandrananth British fellowship training, he achieved his Postgraduate Diploma (MIPDEd) in Orthopaedic surgery.
Dr Chandrananth has a strong martial arts background, which has influenced his balanced mindset when providing patient care and also enjoys teaching and mentoring students through his involvement with the University of Melbourne.
Mr Kade Collins
Mr Kade Collins is a Melbourne and internationally trained orthopaedic surgeon, specialising in hip and knee surgery, and upper and lower limb injuries in both children and adults.
Mr Collins completed his medical degree at Monash University.
After completing his Victorian orthopaedic specialist training, Mr Collins undertook additional specialist training internationally to further his expertise in hip and knee surgery in both Edinburgh and London.
Dr Kaihan Yao
Dr Kaihan Yao is a Melbourne based orthopaedic surgeon, specialising in Foot and Ankle Surgeries, as well as Knee Replacements.
Trained in Australia, Dr Yao sub-specialises in Foot and Ankle Surgery with emphasis on minimally invasive forefoot surgery including bunion and lesser toe deformity corrections, Total Ankle Replacement and correction of complex foot and ankle deformity.
He is experienced in Robotic assisted Knee Replacement, Arthroscopic Knee Surgery and the management of Orthopaedic Trauma.
Mr Keith Winters
Mr Keith Winters is a specialist orthopaedic surgeon serving the Peninsula area of Melbourne. He sees patients for all lower limb conditions as well as upper limb trauma.
Mr Winters is interested in assessment, management & surgery of the lower limb, including all foot and ankle conditions and offers a friendly and professional service, combined with a strong commitment to patient-focused outcomes and satisfaction.
Mr Owen Mattern
Mr Owen Mattern is an orthopaedic surgeon with a keen interest in conditions affecting the shoulder and elbow as well as general orthopaedic trauma, and specialises in arthroscopy, joint replacement surgery and traumatic conditions affecting these joints.
Mr Mattern graduated from medicine at Newcastle University in 2004 and moved to Melbourne in 2006. He completed the Victorian Orthopaedic training in 2016, being accepted as a Fellow into the Royal Australian College of Surgeons and the Australian Orthopaedic Association.
After working as a visiting orthopaedic surgeon at Box Hill and Sandringham Hospitals he has completed further specialist training with world experts at the Sydney Shoulder Research Institute in 2017 and the Upper Limb Unit at the Centre for Excellence for Orthopaedic Surgery at Wrightington Hospital in the United Kingdom in 2018.
These fellowships have given Mr Mattern experience in the management of complex shoulder, elbow and wrist conditions.
Mr Peter McCombe
Mr Peter McCombe is an orthopaedic surgeon who has lived and worked on the Mornington Peninsula for over 20 years.
He completed medicine at Melbourne University in 1979 and qualified as an orthopaedic surgeon in 1988.
After gaining experience in England and the USA in the field of joint replacement surgery, Mr McCombe settled and started a practice on the Mornington Peninsula. Over the years his practice has become centred on Hip and Knee Joint Replacement which is mainly performed at Beleura Private Hospital in Mornington as well as Trauma surgery, primarily at Frankston Hospital.
Mr McCombe has always enjoyed teaching and was an examiner in Orthopaedics for the Royal Australian College of Surgeons for many years. This continues to be an interest through his involvement at Frankston Hospital.
Mr Richard Large
Mr Richard Large is an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in upper limb surgery.
After completing his surgical training with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2010, Mr Large spent two years abroad where he completed a twelve month upper limb fellowship with the Royal Derby Hospital in the United Kingdom. He also spent twelve months travelling and completing observerships, primarily in Europe. During this time Mr Large spent time working with Professor Luc Favard in Tours, France and Prof. Christian Gerber in Zurich, Switzerland who both specialise in shoulder arthroplasty.
Mr Large also attended the European Shoulder and Elbow conference (SECEC), the Lafosse arthoplasty course, the Lafosse arthrolaterjet course and British Elbow Shoulder Society conference.
On returning to the Mornington Peninsula, Mr Large joined Mornington Orthopaedics in 2014 where his work encompasses all forms of shoulder and elbow surgery with a particular interest in shoulder arthroscopy.
Mr Large has always been on the Peninsula, having grown up in Mt Eliza. He attended school at Mentone Grammar and undertook his medical training at Monash University.
He lives on the Peninsula with his wife and growing family and enjoys spending time with his family especially when they are all sailing together.
In addition to Mr Large’s practice at Mornington Orthopaedics, he is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Frankston Public Hospital and is highly involved in teaching for the Victorian Orthopaedic training program.
Regular involvement in professional development activities ensures that Mr Large is utilising the latest technical advances and surgical procedures that are backed by the current best-practice research.
Mr Large aims to provide a service, not just surgery. He will always provide compassion, consideration and cutting edge experience.
Mr Sam Joseph
Mr Sam Joseph is a trained specialist orthopaedic surgeon with a focus on hip and knee conditions in the Bayside area of Melbourne.
Mr Joseph grew up in Melbourne and completed his medical degree at Melbourne University. Also completing his orthopaedic training in Victoria and awarded his fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2014.
Dr Simon Lau
Dr Simon Lau is a Melbourne born and trained Orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in surgery to the upper limb – shoulders, elbows and wrists. He has both national and international subspeciality training in the most advanced techniques for arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery, as well as a strong academic record for a variety of topics related to upper limb and traumatic injuries.
Dr Lau’s main focus is on helping his patients return to as full and active lives as possible. He takes an individual patient’s needs and concerns and combines them with the most up to date scientific data and surgical techniques to develop individually tailored treatment plans.
