Anaesthesia and Acute Pain Management

Providing anaesthetic services for patients and specialist units at both Frankston and Rosebud Hospital, with 24 hours on-site consultant level cover at Frankston.

The team comprises specialist anaesthetists, anaesthetic trainees and acute pain specialist nurses working in close cooperation with anaesthetic and recovery nurses as well as our office managers.

Our role in assessing patients before their procedure and ensuring they are safe and comfortable during and after is an essential component of a surgical patient’s stay in hospital.

The Acute Pain Service manages post operative pain relief using a variety of techniques and also provides a labour epidural service to the maternity ward.

As part of the Monash Anaesthetic Training Scheme and several members of the Department are Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetist examiners, our academic focus is enhanced by a strong interest in research.
