Oral Health Information
Having healthy teeth takes a lot of care so by take the right steps each day you can help prevent future problems.
Brushing your teeth
To look after your teeth you will need a toothbrush and something to clean between your teeth, this could be floss, flossettes or interproximal brushes.
You should brush your teeth and gums twice a day and clean between them once a day.
Brushing before bed gets rid of the germs and plaque that accumulate throughout the day.
The way you brush is also important — in fact, doing a poor job of brushing your teeth and gums can be almost as bad as not brushing at all.
Choose a soft toothbrush, as a medium or hard tooth brush will damage teeth and gums. Plaque is soft and comes of easily. You do not need to scrub.
Take your time, moving the toothbrush in gentle, circular motions to remove plaque.
Mouthwash
Mouthwash is not necessary. It does not replace brushing or flossing. You only need a mouth rinse if it was prescribed by a dental professional or a doctor.
