For Allied Health Assistants

Our Allied Health Assistants (AHAs) are an integral part of the Physiotherapy service, providing care to clients and completing many essential administrative and housekeeping tasks.

AHAs are key members of many of our Physiotherapy teams across Peninsula Health including Frankston and Rosebud Hospitals, Golf Links Road/Mornington/Rosebud rehabilitation sites, Community Health, Transition Care and Stroke Detours Programs, and all of the outpatient sites.

Description of Duties

Duties are varied and dependent upon the relevant site and program. These include:

  • delivering and managing client programs as prescribed by Physiotherapists
  • overseeing the equipment supply and loan stocks of the Department
  • administrative tasks including phone duties, maintenance of lists and databases, co-ordination of medical histories, and general office administration

AHA Continuing Education program

The AHA continuing education program is designed to assist ongoing learning and development of knowledge and skills used with the management of clients. Multiple sessions are held each year, and are delivered by Allied Health Professionals, other AHAs, and external speakers.

We strongly encourage our AHAs to attend other Physiotherapy and Allied Health Inservices where this is appropriate to their ongoing learning.

Our AHAs are actively involved in events held for the Department such as Christmas functions, trivia nights, Friday night drinks, Winery Tours and the like.
