2 West is our adult mental health inpatient unit providing short-term, specialist mental health care in a safe, secure and all-inclusive, mixed gender environment.
2 West has a six bed, low stimulus unit and a larger 23 bed unit, comprised of several shared indoor and outdoor spaces where you can relax, attend groups and focus on your recovery goals.
Our service is recovery-focused service is individually tailored to meet your ongoing physical, psychological, social and spiritual goals and needs. Your team will include:
- consultant psychiatrist
- medical doctors
- pharmacist
- registered and enrolled nurses
- discharge coordinators
- social workers
- occupational therapists
- psychologist
- peer support workers with lived experience
Our team can also refer you to other specialist services including the hospital dietician and inpatient and community alcohol and other drug services if required.
Who we care for
You can access our 2 West if you are between the ages of 18 – 64 years and live in the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula Areas. Sometimes people who live in other areas will utilise 2 West if an appropriate service within their local area can not be accessed
Our 2 West can provide you with short-term intensive support during periods where mental health challenges become overwhelming and care in the community is either insufficient or unsafe. We will work with you to return home or to an alternative care setting quickly based on your preferences.
How to access this service
Referrals to 2 West are made following an assessment by one of our mental health teams. Most referrals for 2W are made from within our mental health teams or for people assessed by our mental health service in the Frankston Emergency Department (MHCL ED)
