Staying active as you get older is important for good mental and physical health and wellbeing. In Australia approximately one in five adults aged 18-64 & one in three adults aged over 65 met the Australian Physical Activity Guidelines (according to the most recently released ABS 2022 statistics).
The Mornington Peninsula has a lot on offer for older people. There are plenty of seniors groups, social clubs, exercise groups and more. Search the resources below to find a group that is suitable for you.
NOTE: Self-referral directly into the Agestrong program is currently unavailable due to high service demand across the public health network & extended waitlist periods. Agestrong is available to eligible consumers via referral pathways from existing Peninsula Health allied health services.
Please contact ACCESS regarding Peninsula Health services that may be appropriate for you on 1300 665 781.

Agestrong classes
All Agestrong participants must have an assessment with an Exercise Physiologist or Physiotherapist from Peninsula Health prior to referral into the program. They will complete the Physical Activity Medical Assessment & ask about your health, including previous injuries and surgeries, health conditions, medications and more.
Your GP may also need to sign a form to say you are fit to participate, particularly if you have a heart or lung condition, this will be discussed with your referring exercise physiologist or physiotherapist. The referring clinician will then discuss the different exercise options that are available & if Agestrong is the right class for you, your assessment form will be sent to the relevant group who will contact you to get started
