Children’s Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapists may assist children and their families who are experiencing challenges in their development.

Areas of development

Occupational Therapists may assist children and their families where concerns exist around:

  • Fine motor skills, such as drawing, cutting, handling toys or using cutlery
  • Handwriting skills, such as name writing, letter formation or pencil grip
  • Sensory processing, such as avoiding or seeking sensory experiences (e.g. touch, sight, sounds, taste, smells, or movement)
  • Regulation and organisation skills, such as attending to tabletop tasks, keeping track of belongings or understanding routines 
  • Self-care skills, such as dressing, mealtimes, toileting or bathing 

Who can access this service?

Referrals can be made through ACCESS up to the end of third term of the child’s first prep year.

This service is available across our four community health sites at Frankston, Rosebud, Mornington and Hastings.
