Internships and Junior Medical Staff Positions

Internship encompasses five rotations, rotations offered at Peninsula Health include:

• Emergency (Frankston, Rosebud and Warragul)
• Aged Care
• General Medicine (Frankston & Rosebud)
• General Surgery
• Vascular Surgery
• Orthopaedic Surgery
• Plastic Surgery
• Psychiatry
• Rehabilitation
• Acute Care of Elderly
• Hospital In the Home

PGY2 is part of the New National Framework from 2025, a two-year training program for prevocational doctors following on from PGY1.

Prevocational training allows medical graduates to consolidate and apply clinical knowledge and skills while taking increasing responsibility for providing safe, high-quality patient care. All terms include quality supervision with feedback, and a range of clinical experiences and learning opportunities.

General stream rotations (see below) as well as opportunities for a rotation in ICU, Cardiology or Anaesthetics whilst meeting the requirements of Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV);

• Clinical Experience A: Undifferentiated Illness
• Clinical Experience B: Chronic Illness
• Clinical Experience C: Acute and Critical Illness

• Dip Obs (1 post with two 6/12 O&G allocation)
• O&G
• Surgery
• Critical Care
• Emergency (opportunity to complete your Emergency Medicine Certificate)
• Psychiatry
