Women who have been treated by Melbourne gynaecologist, Dr Simon Gordon,can now access dedicated support services.
Dr Gordon was employed as a Senior Registrar at Frankston Hospital on a 12-month contract from February 1998 until January 1999.
Recent media coverage has focused on the quality of care provided by Dr Gordon to a number of women who were patients at Epworth Healthcare in Melbourne. Investigations into the allegations raised are continuing.
The Commonwealth Government is funding Care Navigators through Victoria’s Primary Health Networks to help women coordinate their ongoing care. This includes organising follow-up treatment, arranging specialist reviews, and linking patients with local GPs and appropriate support services
The Victorian Government is expanding specialist endometriosis services across key providers, including Eastern Health, Barwon Health, Monash Health, Royal Women’s Hospital, and Western Health.
These services will provide gynaecology assessments and support women to access and understand their medical records, including scans and test results. Clinicians will also guide patients on appropriate next steps in their care. Depending on individual needs, access to allied health services, diagnostic imaging and psychological support may also be available.
