The VVED is not for life threatening emergencies, in an emergency, call Triple Zero (000).
How to access the Victorian Virtual Emergency Department?
You must register online with Victorian Virtual Emergency Department, as your consultation will be via video. You cannot ring the VVED. You will need a device with a camera to use the VVED.
Eligibility and Access to the VVED
If your condition is eligible for VVED, you will be connected with doctors and nurse practitioners from your home, workplace, GP clinic or aged care facility. Interpreter services are available.
The VVED is a free service.
You can register yourself if you have non-emergency symptoms and think you might need medical attention, and your GP or health service might be closed or not available. Such symptoms might be pain, vomiting, urinary infection, and influenza.
Your GP, nurse or health service provider might refer you to VVED instead of calling an ambulance or asking you to attend an emergency department in person.
When you call Triple Zero (000) and ask for an ambulance, you may be directed to VVED
If an ambulance is called and reaches you, paramedics may refer you to VVED instead of taking you to hospital.
