Safe Patient Care Act

Peninsula Health is required to report the following information under the terms of the Safe Patient Care (Nurse to Patient and Midwife to Patient Ratios) Act 2015.

  • Peninsula Health Maternity Service has nine birth suites and five assessment rooms available to be occupied.
  • During the period 01/09/21 – 28/02/22 we had 1,390 birth rooms occupied which equates to approximately eight per day and 1,926 presentations to our assessment rooms which is approximately 11 per day.
  • During the period of 01/03/22 – 31/08/22 we had 1,383 birth rooms occupied which equates to approximately eight per day and 1,990 presentations to our assessment rooms which is approximately 11 per day.
  • During the period of 01/09/22 – 28/02/23 –We had 1,249 birth rooms occupied which equates to approximately seven per day and 1,926 presentations to our assessment rooms which is approximately 11 per day.
  • During the period of 01/03/23 – 31/08/23 –We had 1,222 birth rooms occupied which equates to approximately seven per day and 2,026 presentations to our assessment rooms which is approximately 11 per day.
