Peninsula Health is extremely proud and excited to announce our health service has been nominated as a finalist for the 2025 Victorian Public Healthcare Awards in the following category:
- Excellence in mental health and wellbeing: Peninsula Health has eliminated seclusion and mechanical restraints in its mental health inpatient settings creating a safer, more therapeutic and rights-based environments for all.
Over the past three years, Frankston Hospital has successfully recorded zero instances of seclusion and mechanical restraints in acute mental health inpatient units.
“While it was once seen as a way to keep people safe, the practise is deeply traumatic for the person involved, for staff, and for anyone who witnesses it. It also carries a high risk of injury,” explains Dr Kerryn Rubin, Peninsula Health’s Clinical Director of Mental Health Wellbeing.
The winners will be announced on 26 November at the annual Victorian Public Healthcare Awards Gala Night – congratulations to our exceptional Mental Health and Wellbeing service.
