St Joseph’s Primary School in Sorrento is boosting student wellbeing through a whole-school Bike Education program, part of its broader focus on movement and wellbeing.
St Joseph’s Primary School in Sorrento is on a roll—literally! Every student at the school is currently taking part in Bike Education, an exciting initiative supported by the Bicycle Network, Mornington Peninsula Shire and Peninsula Health as part of our region’s active travel work.
The whole-school program builds students confidence and safety skills while encouraging active travel. It’s one of many initiatives at St Josephs in Sorrento promoting movement and wellbeing across the school community.
Bike Education complements the school’s existing efforts, which include swimming lessons, beach-based STEAM learning, and celebrating culture through dance and song. These hands-on experiences bring learning to life through movement and fun.
St Joseph’s Sorrento was recently recognised through the Healthy Schools Achievement Program for its outstanding whole-school approach to sun protection, and now the school is gearing up to focus on physical activity and movement as its next priority area.
With such a strong foundation already in place, St Joseph’s is setting a wonderful example of how schools can weave health and wellbeing into every aspect of school life.
