About Frankston Hospital

Frankston Hospital is the major provider of acute secondary and tertiary hospital services on the Mornington Peninsula. With 336 beds, it provides general and specialty medical and surgical services, mental health, maternity, and paediatric services.

In its role as a major teaching centre, the hospital has affiliations with Monash University and Deakin University and links with other universities in postgraduate studies. During your stay with us it is possible some of your day-to-day care will be undertaken by doctors in-training, under supervision of senior medical staff. Some of your care and treatment may also be undertaken by nursing or allied health students under supervision.

Visiting Hours

Midwifery

Birthing Suites

By arrangement with Nurse Unit Manager.

Open access for partner and one other identified support person.

Antenatal and Postnatal Suites

6.30am – 1.30pm
3.30pm – 8.30pm

The ward is strictly closed to ALL visitors between 1:30pm and 3:30pm

Women have the option to express a ‘No Visitors’ request at any time during their stay

It is therefore advisable for visitors to ensure access will be allowed prior to arrival.

Visiting during ward closure is by pre-arrangement only.

Children visiting the ward are to be supervised at all times and should not be left unattended by partners or visitors

Partners and visitors who are unwell should refrain from accessing the ward to avoid the spread of possible infectious illness to mothers and babies.

To ensure patient comfort a maximum of 4 visitors at any one time is advised.

Paediatric Ward

8am – 1pm Immediate family
2.30 – 7pm General visiting
1 – 2.30pm Rest period strictly no visitors

 

Coronary Care Unit  & Ward 5FS

10am – 12 noon  
4 – 8pm  
1.30 – 3.30pm A strict rest period no visitors
Flowers one bowl of flowers per patient only
Sweets and food please check with registered nurse in charge

 

General Wards, Surgical Unit 2 & Short Stay Unit

2.30- 8pm

 

Psychiatric Services

2 West & 1 West A  
4 – 8pm Monday to Friday
10am – 8pm Weekends and public holidays

 

Intensive Care Unit

Visiting hours are at the discretion of the Nurse Unit Manager.

 

Acute Observation Ward

2.30 – 8pm

 

Cardiac Investigation Unit/Thoracic Medicine

9am – 3.30 pm Monday to Friday,
