Carinya is an aged persons mental health (APMH) service that provide specialist residential, nursing home care for older people with a mental illness and/ or mild – moderate behaviour and psychological symptoms of dementia who cannot live at home or be live in mainstream residential aged care services.
APMH nursing homes provide accommodation, ongoing assessment, treatment and rehabilitation as a transition to mainstream residential care. Carinya is also able to offer respite beds for people who meet the service eligibility criteria.
Aged Persons mental health nursing homes support older people with a mental illness (typically for a period of 12 to 18 months), with the aim of reintegrating them with mainstream aged care residential services.
This service is available to people in our community who are 65 years or older and living in the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula region. Out of area referrals may be considered where the person meets eligibility criteria and has family / other links to the area and/ or their needs will be able to be best met at Carinya.
