“Seeing residents happy and enjoying Carinya is the best part of my day,” says Peninsula Health Aged Person’s Mental Health Program Manager, Bea Hoy. “Vital to the residents’ experiences here is the staff enabling them to make lifestyle choices and supporting them to achieve their goals.”
Reflecting quality of care, Carinya Residential Aged Care has attained a five-star Aged Care Star Rating. “Of note, only one per cent of all aged care services nationally received a five-star rating, so as a team we feel very special attaining that,” adds Bea.
The Commonwealth Government implemented Aged Care Star Ratings in December, in response to the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety, aiming to support older Australians and their representatives to compare aged care services and make choices about the care that is right for them.
“Our clinical nursing skills with fully qualified nurses, allied health support and medical reviews all contribute to outstanding care,” explains Bea. “We work with our residents along with their families and representatives to respect and meet their expectations and wishes, ensuring that Carinya feels like home.”
The leadership and staff of Carinya continue to ensure that all standards and requirements are met or improved, making sure residents get the best care possible.
