Life-saving equipment donated in memory of Victoria Police members

On Monday 4 August, Peninsula Health joined with the Blue Ribbon Foundation – Peninsula Branch and Victoria Police for a Police Memorial Dedication Ceremony in memory of the four members who tragically lost their lives in the 2020 Eastern Freeway crash: Leading Senior Constable Lynette Taylor, Senior Constable Kevin King, Constable Joshua Prestney and Constable Glen Humphris.

The ceremony included the unveiling of commemorative plaques and the dedication of the new ECMO Intensive Care Unit at Frankston Hospital. Blue Ribbon Foundation – Peninsula Branch has raised funds for two ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) machines for Peninsula Health, which will enable us to save lives while acknowledging the memory of the fallen officers.

Thank you to Master of Ceremonies, Assistant Commissioner Glen Weir, along with guests and speakers Mr Darryl Nation (President, Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation Peninsula Branch), Helen Cooper (Chief Executive, Peninsula Health), Mr David Mann (Chairman, Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation) and Chief Commissioner Mr Mike Bush. We were also honoured to hear from the families of the four officers.

We are extremely grateful to Blue Ribbon Foundation – Peninsula Branch for their extraordinary ongoing support, and to the families of the police members, who have allowed us to honour their loved ones within our health service.
