Overport Primary School’s Student Health Ambassadors have been busy bees spreading important messages about the importance of smoke and vape free school environments. Taking the lead, the students planned a fun poster competition, encouraging their friends to get creative while exploring the impacts of smoking and vaping on people and their local environment.
The poster competition is part of Overport Primary School’s whole-school approach to smoking and vaping. This includes new smoke-free and vape-free signage, an updated smoking and vaping policy, and meaningful classroom activities for Grade 5 and 6 students.
“It’s been wonderful to see our students contribute their ideas, creativity and hard work to our whole-school approach to smoking and vaping prevention. They’ve played a key role in helping to shape the messages and activities across the school,” said Laura, Mental Health in Schools Coordinator.
The students helped to spread powerful messages through their artwork, raising awareness across the school community.
