The Health Promotion team recently hosted free bike maintenance workshops for women across Frankston City and the Mornington Peninsula. Delivered by Brainwave Bikes, these fun, hands-on and beginner-friendly sessions gave participants the skills and confidence to keep their bikes clean, safe and running smoothly.
Participants developed practical knowledge in areas such as:
- Identifying bike parts and conducting safety checks
- Basic cleaning and lubrication
- Understanding essential tools and products for home use
- Repairing a flat tyre
Here’s what some participants enjoyed about the sessions:
- “The information was really relevant, and having all women made me more confident to ask questions.”
- “Learning how to be independent in caring for and maintaining a bike.”
- “The practical skills and interactive presentation, with lots of opportunities to ask questions.”
The Health Promotion team will be hosting another session on the Mornington Peninsula later in the year – keep an eye on our Instagram page @a_healthy_peninsula for further details.
