Finalists for the Victorian Public Healthcare Awards – Health Service Partnership of the Year

As a key partner in the South East Metro Health Service Partnership (SEMHSP), Peninsula Health’s alliance with the other health services is working to improve health outcomes for patients and their families in the South East of Melbourne

What started as a Victorian Department of Health directive for health services to come together during COVID-19, has now taken on a life of its own.  Monash Health, Alfred Health, and Peninsula Health have led the way in building a collaborative model that includes acute, primary, and community health care partners.

The partnership’s breadth encompasses the provision of care to over 400,000 individuals during the COVID-19 pandemic, along with conducting nearly 10,000 virtual emergency consultations.
It extends further to a sustained dedication to enhancing patient care at home, and implementing reforms in planned surgical procedures, thereby fostering improved consumer outcomes and optimising the patient journey.

Delivering care to approximately one third of the population of Victoria, the SEMHSP is one of three health services partnerships in Melbourne, which has evolved to become a trusted union for improving access and the quality of care to our community.

To ensure that the consumer voice is acknowledged and valued in shaping change, the SEMHSP took the lead in directing a co-design initiative, bringing the three metro HSP partners together, to engage in consumer research.

The relationship between the three partnerships continue to grow and will deliver benefits to the entire community across Metropolitan Melbourne.

The strength of the partnership has now been recognised with the announcement that it is a finalist in the Health Service Partnership of the Year category of the Victorian Public Healthcare Awards.

Coming from strong foundations of working together, we have strengthened our collaboration to respond to the health care needs in our community, & we’re proud to be nominated as a finalist for the 2023 Health Service Partnership of the Year award,” said Dina Watterson, Executive Director, SEMHSP.

We look forward to the announcement of the award winner on November 16.  Although, it is worth noting that this partnership has already demonstrated the significant achievements that can result from effective collaboration.

Congratulations SEMHSP team and best of luck from all at Peninsula Health.
