Peninsula Health congratulates Dr Helen Kolawole, one of our esteemed anaesthetists, on receiving the ANZCA Medal at the annual College Ceremony of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in Brisbane.
Dr Kolawole was among six anaesthetists awarded for their significant and continuous contributions to local, Australian, New Zealand, and international anaesthesia throughout their careers. She is a globally recognised expert in perioperative allergy and anaphylaxis, drawing from her own personal experience with a latex allergy to advance understanding and education in the field.
As a founding member of the Australian and New Zealand Anaesthetic Allergy Group (ANZAAG) and the anaesthetic allergy clinic at Peninsula Health and Monash Health, Dr Kolawole has been instrumental in advancing the management of perioperative allergies. She goes above and beyond to provide individualised, specialised patient care with expertise and compassion.
“The most special part of receiving this award was that my colleagues, who know me in a variety of different roles, chose to nominate me for the ANZCA Medal,” says Dr Kolawole.
“These colleagues are amazing anaesthetists who have made significant contributions to anaesthetic allergy, patient safety and education of trainees and consultants. I am truly humbled by my colleague’s recognition of my contribution.”
Congratulations once again to Dr Helen Kolawole for this extraordinary achievement.
