These clinics are for children up to the age of 12 years and in particular for
- Developmental Delay in Preschool children
- ADHD/Autism concerns
- Primary School function/learning concerns
- Speech/ Fine Motor / Gross Motor delay
Referals
Referral addressed to named head of clinic is preferred.
The GP Referral Template located within the Mastercare Referralnet system is the preferred referral tool.

Eligibility Criteria
Under 12 years and living within the Peninsula Health Mental Health Catchment area.
Hearing and vision assessments need to be performed prior to referral being accepted.
Specific Autism/ADOS referral needs to be supported by a Paediatric assessment before the referral can be accepted.
Exclusion Criteria
Children Over 12 years.
If Mental Health Issues are the primary diagnosis, please refer to Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Services.
Alternative Referral Options
NDIS
Before their 6th birthday, a child can be referred to NDIS by the parent. This may allow them to be allocated a case worker to begin a process of intervention (e.g.Speech Therapy/Occupational Therapy/Psychology).
Make a referral
- The referral needs to be clear so allocation to the appropriate specialist is enabled.
- The presenting problem needs to have details of the concern and the impact on the patient/ family/ education and duration of symptoms.
- Past Medical history
- Social history
- Childcare or preschool concerns
- Investigation results, especially Hearing and Vision test results are required
- Paediatric assessment information if performed
Please Note
- Vision Assessments are usually done through private optometry services.
- Specific Autism/ADOS referral needs to be supported by a Paediatric assessment before the referral can be accepted.
- Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Psychology assessment should be considered according to the Presenting Problem as a parallel referral while waiting for clinic appointment. These services are available by referral to ACCESS or private services.
- Hearing Assessments can also be made by referral to Audiology via ACCESS or private services.
