What is RSS?

RSS is an acronym for Really Simple Syndication. RSS is a way of keeping track of updates to a frequently updated website or part of a website, showing when new articles or comments have been added. Stephanie Quialo has a good overview of RSS on her website.

Subscribing to RSS Feeds

There are a number of ways you subscribe to RSS Feeds. You can use a dedicated feed reader software like Feedreader (Windows) or NetNewsWire (Mac) or online tools like Google Reader or Bloglines.

RSS Feeds in your browser

If you use FirefoxSafari or Internet Explorer 7 or newer as your web browser you can subscribe to these feeds via your web browser as Bookmarks (Firefox calls RSS feeds Live Bookmarks) by either clicking the links above or the RSS icon in the browser’s address bar.
