Youth Mental Health Team

The Youth Mental Health Team provides a free service for young people aged 16-25 years living in the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula region who are experiencing significant mental health issues. The multidisciplinary Youth Mental Health Team incorporates a youth friendly, flexible community based approach to provide comprehensive assessment and therapeutic, recovery focused treatment of young people and their families that recognizes developmental age and stage. The Youth Mental Health Team works collaboratively with other parts of the mental health service and community agencies to provide recovery orientated services to the Youth population.

All urgent or non-urgent referrals to the Peninsula Health Mental Health Service are through Mental Health Telephone Triage on 1300 792 977 (24 hours, 7 days a week)

Y-PARC – Youth Prevention and Recovery Care

Frankston Y-PARC is a 10 bedroom short term ‘step up / step down’ residential facility for young people aged 16 to 25 years with serious mental health issues.  The recovery focused service is a collaborative partnership between Peninsula Health Mental Health Service (PHMHS), Mind Australia (Mind) and Mentis Assist.  Staff comprise of clinical staff from PHMHS and Community Mental Health Practitioners from Mind and Mentis Assist.

Y-PARC services are often referred to as ‘Step Up / Step Down’ programs because they allow mental health services to care for young persons living in local communities who require short-term intensive residential support to prevent deterioration or relapse of mental illness, without which may lead to a hospital admission (Step Up) and young persons who no longer need to be in hospital, but would benefit from short term, intensive treatment and support, in a residential setting after discharge from hospital (Step Down).

All urgent or non-urgent referrals to the Peninsula Health Mental Health Service are through Mental Health Telephone Triage on 1300 792 977 (24 hours, 7 days a week)
