Welcome to the Summer edition of Connection, our publication for donors, supporters and the community. After the difficulties and challenges we have all faced over the last three years, it is wonderful to be able to bring you this publication again, and share some news with you from across Peninsula Health.
In this issue, we will introduce you to two new members of our team. Our Clinical Director of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dr Nisha Khot, started with us at Frankston Hospital last month, having worked for a decade in Victoria’s health system. Nisha brings a wealth of knowledge and ideas to our health service, gained from her experiences in India, the UK and Victoria, since migrating to Australia in 2010. Subhashani Jayasekera recently joined us at Peninsula Health as our Donor Relations Officer, and for many of you Subhashani’s voice will be one of the first you hear when you contact the Philanthropy team.
As the number of COVID-19 cases continues to drop alongside high vaccination rates, it has been wonderful to be able to welcome a number of volunteers and consumer representatives back into the organisation. One of the more prominent volunteer groups to return is the Pink Ladies Auxiliary, who remain ever-popular with staff and visitors for their sandwiches and coffees near the main entrance to Frankston Hospital. Last month the Pinkies were able to make another significant donation to the health service, despite being unable to run the kiosk for more than two years.
While we have focussed on the provision of excellent care for our community in response to the COVID-19 pandemic since early 2020, we have also continued to work on many other longer term projects, one of which is the Frankston Hospital redevelopment. This exciting investment for our staff and community will change the face of healthcare provision, connection and accessibility on the Mornington Peninsula, and we can now share some more detail of what is being delivered in the $1.1 billion construction.
We greatly appreciate your generous and continued philanthropic support for Peninsula Health. Your commitment to our health service makes an enormous difference to the lives of so many people across our hospitals and community health sites. I hope you enjoy reading this edition of Connection.
