Little Charlotte was visiting her grandparents, when all of a sudden, she started shaking on the floor – what happen next saved her life

Charlotte is normally a healthy two year old but last summer she was rushed to Frankston Emergency Department requiring urgent medical attention.

Charlotte’s mum Rebecca says, ‘Out of nowhere she just shaking on the floor. I was so shocked, not knowing what to do. I immediately picked her up and held her tight. When the seizure stopped she remained limp and lifeless in my arms.’

Rebecca’s parents rushed her to Frankston Emergency Department where staff immediately got to work.

Time was now of the essence.  Charlotte’s life hung in the balance. The Emergency team needed to revive her – and fast.

They put Charlotte on a ventilator to assist her breathing and gave her medicine to fight her infection.

The team initially feared the worst. But thankfully, Charlotte’s condition started to improve. Her colour started to return and she could once again breathe on her own.

Luckily, Charlotte continued to respond well to her treatment. She is now back at home and full of life.
