Every minute of every day, people are rushed to our Emergency Departments in urgent need of medical attention. From serious illness to life-threatening injuries, our doctors and nurses are here to care for them in their time of need.

Blairgowrie local Colin, knows all too well the importance of having the best of care, close to home. Colin was rushed to the Emergency Department requiring urgent medical attention.

He had just returned from walking the family dog, when all of a sudden we felt an immense pressure across his chest, he felt sick and started sweating. After sitting and waiting to see if it would go away, his wife insisted that he go to hospital.

And luckily for Colin – because he was having a heart attack! Time was now of the essence.  The Emergency team needed to act fast to perform life-saving treatment.

Colin was rushed to our Emergency where our Emergency Team immediately went to work on him. They quickly identified a heart attack and taken to our state of the art Cardiac Unit, where the Cardiology team was waiting. They performed an emergency procedure inserting a stent in the small artery in his heart.

Colin says, “I am so grateful to all of the staff. They were incredible, they looked after me so well. I hate to think what would have happened if they hadn’t been there to help.”
