About our service

The Simulation and Clinical Skills Centre delivers educational opportunities for medical, nursing, allied health professionals, students and support staff.

Within a supportive, learner-centred environment, participants progress the knowledge, skills and expertise required to achieve their learning goals.

Education is geared towards the delivery of exceptional person-centred care that is safe, personal, effective and connected, along with eliminating avoidable harm.

Enhancing a healthcare culture where patients remain at the centre of care and individual preferences are respected, the Sim Centre team includes members of the Consumer Simulated Patient (CSP) program.

The CSP volunteers impart the patient’s voice and perspective, both within the simulation exercise and debriefing, and are valued members of our team.

Education and Training

Working collaboratively with Peninsula Health education units, departments and clinical wards, simulation sessions are conducted both at the Sim Centre or ‘insitu’.

Sessions utilise a variety of simulation methodologies, including manikins, part-task trainers or simulated patients.  Incorporated into the simulated experience are debriefings that focus on enhancing teamwork, effective communication, decision making and situational awareness, along with technical skills.

The Centre is accredited with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) as an Advanced Life Support (ALS) Level 1 Course Centre and APLS Australia to deliver the Paediatric Life Support (PLS) Course.
