Keeping palliative care patients warm and comfortable

On Friday 26 May, three members from the local Lions Clubs on the Peninsula unveiled a new blanket warmer cabinet at our Palliative Care Unit at Golf Links Road Rehabilitation Centre.

“Lions Clubs of the Peninsula are proud to be able to contribute towards the purchase of the blanket warmer cabinet for our local community palliative care unit,” says Julie Swan, President of the Lions Club of Frankston. “We are locals, we assist locals.”

Funded by five local Lions Clubs: Balnarring, Mornington, Frankston Mount Eliza and Mount Martha, the new blanket warmer cabinet is a first for the Unit, and will enhance patient care for those with serious, complex and terminal illnesses.

“It will make such a difference to our patient’s comfort,” says Barbara Cass, Nurse Unit Manager Palliative Care Unit. “To wake up and have a warm, cosy blanket to snuggle into will help our patients feel more relaxed and peaceful and will help them get a good night’s sleep.”

“We are so grateful to the Lions Clubs for working together to get this for us, it’s been amazing.”

We would like to thank the Lions Clubs of Frankston, Mornington, Mt Eliza, Mount Martha and Balnarring for their combined generous donation.
