Dr Kambourakis is a medical specialist dual-qualified in emergency medicine and medical administration.
He is Chief Medical Officer at Alfred Health. Prior to joining Alfred Health in 2016 as Director Medical Services, he was Director of Emergency Medicine at Monash Medical Centre.
Experience and areas of interest include clinical governance; patient safety; disaster and emergency clinical response; new clinical procedures and technologies; governance of medical training programs; and medical workforce development. He is a past clinical lead of Safer Care Victoria’s Emergency Care Clinical Network and a current member of the Victorian Medical Council.
He is actively involved in inter-professional, undergraduate, and postgraduate medical education, and is an adjunct senior lecturer with the Monash University’s School of Translational Medicine and a member of the Board of Censors of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators.
