Capital Works

Peninsula Health is working in partnerships to deliver capital works programs and upgrades to sites and services across our health network. The quality of care we deliver to our community is of paramount importance and we are looking forward to delivering improvements and new facilities across a range of services in Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula over the coming years.

Frankston Hospital redevelopment project

The Victorian Government is providing $562 million to redevelop and expand Frankston Hospital.

The redevelopment will transform services by delivering a multi-level tower with capacity for an additional 120 beds and new operating theatres.

A new main entrance will support better wayfinding for patients and visitors. Construction of the acute services tower will consolidate and enhance inpatient services and provide dedicated space for mental health services and a new oncology ward.

The community consultation report for the Frankston Hospital redevelopment was also released in April 2021, please click here to read the report.

Academic and Research Centre

In partnership with Monash University, we are constructing a new Academic and Research Centre at the Frankston Hospital campus. Please click here for more details on the multi-million dollar project which is expected to open in 2022.

The Academic & Research Centre will also house a component of the National Centre for Healthy Ageing (NCHA), a partnership between the Commonwealth, Monash University and Peninsula Health. The NCHA’s health data and implementation platform will be housed within the new Academic and Research Centre, while the bulk of the collaborative project will be based at the nearby Peninsula campus of Monash University.
