COVID-19 Sotrovimab Clinic now operating at Frankston Hospital

We are now running a Sotrovimab Clinic at Frankston Hospital to treat patients with COVID-19.

Sotrovimab belongs to a group of medicines called monoclonal antibodies. Sotrovimab has been developed for the treatment of COVID-19 and works by binding to the spike protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19, blocking the virus from entering human cells and multiplying in the body.

Research has shown that Sotrovimab decreases the risk of hospitalisation for unvaccinated patients if taken within five days of the onset of symptoms.

We hope the addition of the Sotrovimab Clinic will help reduce the severity of the disease for people with COVID-19 and decrease the number of people needing hospital treatment.

Patients are referred to the clinic through our COVID positive pathways program.
