Virtual Reality Fighting Off Vax Fears

Terrified of needles? You’re not alone, research shows that between 20-50% of adolescents experience needle anxiety.

Many people with a fear of needles find it difficult to get their #JabDone, but many understand the importance of getting vaccinated against COVID-19.

We’re helping those who feel anxious about rolling up their sleeve through the use of virtual reality technology.

“We are very lucky to have a virtual reality device here at the Frankston Community Vaccination Hub,” said Clinical Nurse Educator, Sophie Uren, on ABC Radio this morning.

“It’s really scary for people to come get their needles sometimes and we now have something that can alleviate their fear.”

The VR technology, which can display over twenty different programs, was introduced to help improve the overall experience of people being vaccinated and reduce the number of fainting episodes caused by needle anxiety.
