Faces of Peninsula Health: Q&A with Janine Davies

Janine DaviesName: Janine Davies

Job: Director of Mental Health Nursing

Q: What do you do?

A: I support, empower and provide professional guidance to approximately 250 nurses who work in Mental Heath Services throughout multiple sites. I ensure nurses deliver the highest standards of patient centred care every day. I love my job! Being in a job where you can make a difference every day is a privilege. As health professionals sometimes we never will know the impact we have had in someone’s life when patients and their loved ones are going through the most challenging times in their lives.

Q: What do you like most in your job?

A: I love to inspire and empower nurses within their career to reach their aspirations. I believe if you invest in nurses then patient experience improves. When I think about what kind of nurse I would want for myself or my loved ones I would want to be nursed by someone who loves their job, is empowered to improve clinical practice, who is knowledgeable and is able to be reflective and learn, someone who is friendly and approachable. For this reason that is why I love to inspire, provide guidance and empower nurses within their clinical practice.

Q: What’s one thing people don’t know about you?

A: I’m Welsh and come from the same little Welsh valley town as the singer “Tom Jones”.
