New Nurse Unit Manager for Gunnamatta Ward at The Mornington Centre

Long-serving Peninsula Health staff member Julie Emmanuel is the new Nurse Unit Manager of Gunnamatta Ward at The Mornington Centre.

The experienced nurse is excited to be working in sub-acute nursing for the first time in her career at Peninsula Health’s aged care and rehabilitation centre.

“Over the last 18 years I have been NUM of the Surgical Short Stay Unit, Admissions and Discharge Lounge, Elective Surgery Ward and most recently Acute Outpatients,” says Julie.

“After three years as NUM of Acute Outpatients I decided I would like to return to managing an inpatient unit. I have not worked in sub-acute nursing before and wanted to pursue a new challenge”

“Since starting on February 19 I am really enjoying the interactions I have with patients and their families in the delivery of their care.”

The Mornington local is passionate about providing patient centred care as well as supporting the multi-disciplinary team of health professionals caring for patients at The Mornington Centre.

Together with the team on Gunnamatta Ward, Julie already has a few projects underway to optimise the best outcomes for patients.

“In the next 12 months we aim to build a strong team approach to safe care delivery. We aim to ensure optimal discharge planning which will flow on to ensure greater access to our sub-acute beds for the acute wards,” explains Julie.

“Our ward will also benefit from some minor building works to update bathrooms and patient rooms, hopefully in the next 12 months.”

Outside of work you’ll find Julie living the active Mornington Peninsula lifestyle, running or walking the Esplanade with her husband.

She also loves to travel and is currently planning an overseas trip with her two adult children.

Congratulations Julie and welcome to The Mornington Centre.
