Frankston Hospital Stage 2A expansion kicks off

Work is underway on the $45 million expansion of Frankston Hospital.

First cab off the rank was the Frankston Hospital Diabetes and Endocrinology Research Unit office.

It was unceremoniously cut into three sections, loaded on a truck and moved from the back of the hospital to a new site between the hospital and the Frankston Integrated Health Centre.

“Preliminary work is taking place at the moment,” said Geoff De Campo, Director, Facilities management, Peninsula Health.

“During 2008 works will be undertaken on the construction of a new Pharmacy and Health Information Service department and the expansion and refurbishment of the Central Sterilising Department (CSSD),” said Geoff.

“The Intensive Care Unit and Short Stay Unit will be relocated to a temporary location until their new areas are expanded and refurbished; plus a new Fluoroscopy and DSA unit will be built in Radiology.” he added.

“It’s going to be a busy few weeks with the builders arriving and work beginning.”
