Patients presenting with chest pain at Frankston Hospital’s Emergency Department may be admitted into a new specialist Unit for a faster diagnosis and care plan.
Peninsula Health’s new Rapid Assessment Chest Pain Unit is designed to fast track patients with chest pain that may be coming from the heart. Assessments, such as blood tests and ECGs, will be conducted during your stay, and further scans will be organised for you to attend after your discharge.
You will be seen again be a specialist cardiologist to discuss your test results within 5-7 days from your initial contact with the Rapid Assessment Chest Pain Unit.
The Unit operates weekdays during normal business hours. An estimated 2,000 patients a year will benefit from the specialised service.
