Grade 1 Rotations

Grade 1 Rotations

Overview

We currently employ 16 Grade 1s who rotate across all Peninsula Health sites every 4 months.
Rotations include:
– Acute: Orthopaedic Inpatients & Outpatients, Neurology, Cardiothoracic (Medical & Surgical) & ICU
– Rehabilitation: Orthopaedic, Neurology, General & Aged Care
– Community Health Outpatients at the Frankston Integrated Health Centre as well as Mornington and Rosebud Community Health Centres

Supervision structure

All Grade 1s are provided with formal and informal supervision from seniors, including a competency checklist and regular appraisals. These help facilitate rotation specific goal setting as well as support for career progression and skill development. Grade 1s also participate in annual performance development reviews.

Grade 1 meetings

Grade 1 meetings are held every rotation.  The topics covered are initiated by Grade 1s and the Grade 1 Co-ordinator helps facilitate the meeting. Common issues are discussed and there is time for sharing of ideas in a relaxed environment.

Progression to Grade 2 level and above

Career progression and growth are strongly fostered in the Peninsula Health Physiotherapy Department.
Peninsula Health has more than 40 Grade 2s working across all sites, therefore allowing many opportunities to advance from a Grade 1 position.

Social

The Peninsula Health Physiotherapists believe that an enjoyable and social atmosphere is an integral part of a congruent department for Grade 1s as well as the wider staff group.

Our Grade 1s are keenly involved and help to organise movie nights, dinners, and after work catch ups including a regular function after the Grade 1 meetings.

**We believe in providing a supportive learning environment where professional development is promoted and advancement of skills learning is fostered. The wide variety of rotations across all sites enables an ability to gain exposure to both acute and subacute settings under the guidance of experienced senior staff.
