Aged Mental Health Inpatient Unit (1 West A)
1 West is a 15 bed acute aged mental health inpatient unit for people over the age of 65 years, providing assessment, and treatment during the acute phase of a mental illness.
The unit specialises in both behavioural and therapeutic approaches to assist patients and their carers with management of severe Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD), who have or are not able to be managed in a generic aged care facility or at home.
Day or overnight leave are encouraged whenever appropriate and is an important part of aiding recovery.
We aim to return patients to their home or residential care facility as soon as it is appropriate.
