Consumers of Peninsula Health Mental Health Service

A thorough assessment of all potential consumers is conducted at referral to determine suitability for entry to the service. Individuals receiving service from the Peninsula Health Mental Health Service generally have one of more of the following characteristics:

  • Are at risk of developing a major mental illness such as schizophrenia, psychosis, bipolar disorder, major depression, dementia with behavioural disturbances, severe anxiety disorders, or severe personality disorders
  • Are experiencing or are at risk of a reoccurrence of symptoms related to their mental illness
  • Are experiencing a situational crisis which may lead to self harm or thoughts of suicide

Referrals which do not meet the criteria for entry to the service will be directed to the most appropriate service.
