CLIPS is a multidisciplinary team that has 3 main areas of service delivery:
• Mental Health Triage (Phone number: 1300 792 977)
The triage component of CLIPS is a 24 hour centralized mental health triage service. This is the first point of contact and entry into Peninsula Health Mental Health Service.
The team also provide timely screening, preliminary phone assessment, mental health advice and referral options for those not appropriate for follow-up within Peninsula Health mental health Service.
• Emergency Department
The team provides a 24 hour service within Frankston hospital offering mental health assessment and treatment to consumers presenting to the Emergency department at Frankston hospital with acute mental health issues, and facilitates admission to both the adult and aged mental health inpatient units if required, referral to other parts of Peninsula Health Mental Health Service, or referral to external agencies as appropriate.
• Consultation Liaison Psychiatry (CL Psychiatry)
CL Psychiatry provides both a primary and secondary consultation service to all non-mental health wards of Frankston hospital. Whilst CL Psychiatry provides specialist mental health assessment, treatment and management recommendations, the treating medical team retain the overall responsibility for that person’s management.
This service is provided Monday to Friday 0830-1700hrs, however urgent referrals can be made in the after hours period to the on-call psychiatric registrar.
