Adult Acute Inpatient Unit (2 West)
2 west is a 29 bed mental health inpatient unit that provides mental health assessment, treatment and management during an acute phase of a person’s mental illness.
Patients admitted from the community are assessed and treated until a less intensive option is possible. Therapeutic activity programs, which include assisting with daily living skills and group activities, ensure maximum independence in all aspects of functioning when returning back into the community.
All patients are reviewed daily. Doctors and nursing staff discuss all treatment and management, including discharge plans, with both the patient and family/carers.
The Acute Management Area (AMA/HDU) is a low stimulus environment for patients who may require a more intensive treatment during their admission.
