About Nephrology (Renal Medicine) at Frankston Hospital

The Department of Nephrology is one of the departments within the Department of Medicine at Frankston Hospital. The Head of Department is Dr Greg Perry and Dr Robert Flanc is a Visiting Consultant. The Department provides inpatient care and consultation for all patients admitted to Frankston Hospital with kidney problems. In addition, the department provides a range of outpatient clinics for haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and transplant patients.

The Haemodialysis Unit at Frankston is located in the Integrated Health Centre building at Frankston Hospital. The unit operates Monday – Saturday, from 7am – 8.30pm.

The unit is a satellite unit of the Alfred Hospital and provides nine Fresenius dialysis chairs.

Both morning and afternoon sessions are offered for patients:

  • Morning sessions: 7am – 3.30pm.
  • Afternoon sessions: 12 noon – 8.30pm.

A nephrologist is available on site weekly for regular review of patients, either at the renal clinic or within the dialysis setting.

About Nephrology (Renal Medicine) at Rosebud Hospital

The Haemodialysis Unit at Rosebud Hospital operates Monday – Saturday, from 7am – 8pm, every week of the year (except Christmas Day).

The unit provides nine Fresenius dialysis chairs and offers both morning and afternoon sessions for patients:

  • Morning sessions: 7am – 3.30pm.
  • Afternoon sessions: 12 noon – 8.00pm.

The unit is a satellite unit in collaboration with the Alfred Hospital, making treatment more accessible for southern Peninsula patients. The unit also offers a dedicated holiday visitors session throughout the year. Sessions available to holiday visitors are Tuesday afternoon, Thursday afternoon and Saturday afternoon.
