About Physiotherapy Services at Peninsula Health
Physiotherapy assists people to regain, maintain or improve movements and skills to enable them to function as independendently as possible. Physiotherapists use a range of manual skills, exercise prescription and education strategies in their treatments.
Acute phsyiotherapy services are provided to a range of patients with Cardiorespiratory, Orthopaedic, Neurological, General surgical and medical, Womens Health and Paediatric conditions from the Frankston and Rosebud Hospital sites.
Rehabilitation Physiotherapy Services include: Inpatient and Outpatient Rehabilitation programs, aged care evaluation and management, and and Hydrotherapy and group exercise programs for patients with Orthopaedic, Neurological, Amputee, Cardiorespiratory conditions from three sites.
The Physiotherapy Department is committed to excellence in service delivery through the active promotion of quality improvement initiatives. It actively promotes ongoing professional development and supports research both internally and in collaboration with other health providers. Through the promotion of Research, the Physiotherapy Department aims to integrate and translate evidence based research/guidelines into the development of local guidelines of care.
The Physiotherapy Department consists of more than 60 qualified physiotherapists. Approximately 10 per cent have a Postgraduate or Master level degree. Another 15 per cent are currently completing their Postgraduate study. The Physiotherapy Department has a teaching partnership with Monash University School of Physiotherapy which includes a jointly appointed Associate Professor of Physiotherapy to drive research activities.
