To operate in accordance with the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (2007), the Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) is required to monitor all approved research. Part of the monitoring process involves the review of progress reports.
As a condition of project approval, researchers are required to submit progress reports for each research project approved by the Human Research Ethics Committee. A progress report is due on the anniversary of original approval and submitted using the Progress Report template. Progress reports are due more frequently for early phase trials and where requested by the Committee.
The annual report must be signed by the Principal Investigator and should include the correspondence contact details.
Researchers are also required to submit a report if a project is discontinued prior to completion, and a final report (using the progress report template) is to be submitted at the conclusion of all research projects.
Failure to comply with any of the reporting requirements may result in the withdrawal of project approval.
