Welcome to Peninsula Health Psychiatric Service


Peninsula Health Psychiatric Service provides a range of community focused mental health services within a designated catchment area i.e. the former local government areas of Frankston, Chelsea and Shires of Hastings, Flinders and Mornington.

Adult psychiatry provides services for persons aged 16-64 years whilst Aged psychiatry covers those aged 65 years plus. The Frankston Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, auspiced by Southern Health, provides services to young persons under 18 years of age.

Services are provided in two continuums of care, Adult and Aged, across six sites and include assessment, acute treatment and care in community and inpatient settings, crisis intervention, case management and residential rehabilitation and care. All services are provided by a range of multidisciplinary teams.

The Peninsula Health Psychiatric Service is divided into two Programs:

  • Acute Assessment and Treatment Program (Adult and Aged Continuum)
  • Adult Case Management and Recovery Program (Adult Continuum of Care)

Acute Assessment & Treatment Program comprises:

  • Adult Acute Inpatient Unit (2 West)
  • Crisis Assessment and Treatment Service
  • Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Service
  • Mother and Baby Unit
  • Aged Acute Inpatient Unit (1 West A) & ECT
  • Aged Psychiatry Assessment & Treatment Service (APATS)

Adult Case Management & Recovery Program comprises:

  • Community Care Unit
  • North Continuing Care Service
  • South Continuing Care Service
  • Primary Mental Health Service
